Indigenous Wire was fortunate to recently visit our Bahweting homelands in and around Sault Ste. Marie in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We dipped our toes (and paddles) into all of our glorious water, including the great Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and the St. Mary’s River. The time was short, the memories — new and old — wonderful, and we hope you get to visit one day if you haven’t already. For now, we share with you a few snapshots of our voyage, and, as always, we wish you a happy Friday, Wiredians!

Yes, it’s good to go home every now and then. I’m home today at Ft McDermitt attending a memorial for a good friend of mine who was the only tribal member to die of Covid.
